See it, Say it, Paint it with Katie Dobson Cundiff

Discover the authentic charm of Apalachicola and Florida's Forgotten Coast. Step back in time in this last vestige of "Old Florida" to paint weathered fish houses, shrimp and oyster boats, quaint cottages, antebellum mansions and charming downtown shops. Learn to paint faster, looser, and more confidently in this four day workshop while learning to accurately see larger abstract shapes, values, and color. Daily Demos-Discussions-Individual Painting Time-One on One Critiques, Open to all levels, this workshop concentrates on oil painting, but all mediums are welcome. Class size limited to 15.

Katie Cundiff acquired an early appreciation for the fine arts, drawing and painting under the tutelage of her father, Steve Gaston Dobson, an accomplished Chicago illustrator.  Cundiff’s early work earned her awards including a full scholarship in 1968 to the famed Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, FL.  Over the past 30 years, she and her husband have managed their own businesses, designing and producing sculptures using bronze and various natural elements for the designer trade.  In 1993, Cundiff took her first steps in retrieving her love for painting and traveled to Guatemala for a plein air workshop with wildlife artists John Seerey Lester and Alan Hunt.  Two years later, she was accepted into a juried workshop with Richard Schmid.  Painting almost exclusively from life or "en plein air", Cundiff has traveled with her solo exhibition, “Painting Paradise” Florida Landscapes at the Turn of the 21st Century.  Her work is in private and public collections throughout Florida, including the Florida Museum of Art and Culture.
